Our Story
Several lifetimes ago, I was a college junior at the University of Sto. Tomas, taking up architecture. After two years of blah, I was determined to make this a defining college year and I would not disappoint myself. I had a map to success and was fairly convinced I would get to my destination without skipping a beat. As they say, how do you make God laugh… I forget. That summer, I was a part-time usher at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The job specification was to sit and watch the best and the worst Philippine theater scene could produce while occasionally leading people to their seats at the start, breaks and the end of shows. There I met her –the person who would be my guide and partner to an adventure that will consume both of our entire lives. We were standing in front of the third left door of the Little Theater as the midday showing of Tanghalang Pilipino’s version of Sawi was scheduled to start at 3 pm. The theater doors would open at 2:30 pm, but the play Lorena and I was about to act lead roles in for the rest of our lives had just begun…
